"I really want to find a company that is working to fix [mental health]. Are you aware of any in [Minneapolis] so that I can research them?"

Why:
it& #39;s in everybody& #39;s best interest that you prioritize those employers working on your passions
3/ Easy questions, helpful answers:

"I think what [Homespotter] is doing is interesting because of my background with [doing websites for brokers]. Could you introduce me to anyone there? Also do you have any opinions of them?"

Why: introductions = your unfair advantage.
4/ Easy questions, helpful answers:

"I& #39;ve created a google sheet of companies that I think look fascinating. Are there any companies on it that, if you were me, you& #39;d prioritize to be top 5? If so why?"

Why: let mentors shape your hitlist. They might know things.
5/ Easy questions, helpful answers:

"I& #39;m thinking of learning [Meteor] or [Node] in my spare time. If it& #39;s my goal to do X, which do you think I should focus on?"

Why: your time is finite. Also questions like this are easy but gives you an excuse to build the relationship.
6/ Easy questions, helpful answers:

"I& #39;ve updated both my LinkedIn and my portfolio page. Do you think there are any significant voids on either that I should fix? It& #39;s my goal to work at a [BigCo or startup or consulting firm] as a [data scientist].

Why: first impressions
7/ Easy questions, helpful answers:

"I& #39;d https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="❤️" title="Rotes Herz" aria-label="Emoji: Rotes Herz"> to talk to more people who are in the field of [VR]. Do you happen to know any technologists in that space that I could reach out to and drop your name?"

Why: Don& #39;t just build your network. Build it in the direction you want to go in.
BONUS/ For most grads the hardest narrative you need to rewire in your head is:

"I don& #39;t want to be a bother"

Guess what.

We& #39;re mentors for a reason. Fucking use us.

Reach out.

Just keep the questions easy to answer.
