ok here is a comparison of the two animation studios in season one. on the left is what i’d consider the “original” one, it’s consistant throughout all three reasons. the right is the alternate one, rounder faces, ears, eyes are different too (coloring and eye lashes)
here’s season two, left is the og studio/style, right is the alt one (faces still rounder, ears too, different eyes)
same thing for s3, left is og, right is alt, same differences as before, but the alt studio (i’m not sure if it’s a different one or not) did a better job in s3 imo
overall i like the og style better throughout the show because of its consistency. i think mid s1 it was at its best, definitely good in s2&3 though. i don’t like the alt for s2 at all. the alt for s1 just looks a little off to me but doesn’t bother me as much as s2. the alt for
s3 probably is the best alt one throughout the series. i definitely like how they do profiles the best out of all the animation, sometimes it just looks a little too... detailed? to me. i’m not sure. but og has the best exaggerated expression to be, and is overall my favorite
also these differences are most noticeable in katara, sokka, and aang imo because they have big expressive eyes, compared to zuko, for example.
