Even now I struggle to d.c patients - that feeling of & #39;have I helped them enough?& #39;, & #39;what will happen to them now?& #39;, & #39;what if I didn& #39;t do something I should have or missed something?& #39;.
Of course you should try your utmost to help, but some key points I& #39;ve learnt to ask myself before deciding this are: & #39;how can i help this patient& #39; & #39;is there anything more I can do from a Dietetic perspective& #39; & #39;is there anyone I can refer them to& #39;
if there is nothing more you can do - there is nothing wrong with discussing this with patients and discharging them. And of course if you have doubts, discuss it with your supervisor
