This is a tough situation, being described as “our backs up against the wall.” These patients should all be seen in bigger hospitals— not local or field hospitals.

Morning update: have spoken or texted with the White House, a governor’s advisor, an infectious disease team on the ground, and have messages into hospitals.

I was asked if the people dying in the Rio Grande Valley have “come across the border.”
I was also told that local officials who don’t like Gov Abbott may be lying about the gravity of the situation.
I worry that those 2 statements are influencing actions to help people.

The state lays this on local health authorities. To be frank, I’m finding the story shifting.
I don’t think this is the most important metric. Keep pushing on the mask mandate & help the RGV and other trouble spots and your businesses will soon thrive as the death rate drops.
