Just took a few minutes to add up all the marking I did since last Sept. By end of June I will have marked 550 individual pieces of assessment (from L1 essays to MA thesis); a total of about 1,287,500 words. Life of the fixed-term lecturer!

Even if I use the ambitious figure of 20 mins per piece (unrealistic given this also includes dissertations), that& #39;s 183.3h of marking, or 4.58 full work weeks of non-stop marking.

If we say I write on average 250 words of feedback for each piece, that& #39;s 137,500 words of feedback I& #39;ve written since Sept. 2019. That& #39;s a whole, slightly overlength book right there. Can this count for the REF?
