One thing that sucks about those whacked out protesters is they give cover for people who want to dismiss the very legitimate concerns of people who don& #39;t know how they& #39;re going to navigate this crisis financially. In fact, many of those protesters have some legitimate concerns!
They can miss me with the ~live free or die, heil whitmer~ nonsense, but a lot of these people have lost their livelihoods. They& #39;re scared, they& #39;re confused, and they& #39;re confronting something they don& #39;t understand. That kind of fear helps breed a conspiratorial mindset.
It& #39;s not as simple as people being greedy or wanting to go back to Cracker Barrel or whatever, though of course there& #39;s some of that, a lot of those people sincerely don& #39;t know how they& #39;re going to keep their lights on. That fear manifests itself in some unproductive ways.
I don& #39;t think that means you need to be sympathetic of some doofus holding up a swastika at a rally, but it does mean maybe we shouldn& #39;t forget about all the other people who don& #39;t have the luxury of working from home or who are watching small businesses tick towards oblivion.
